The story can be told with a collection of images or just one and it can be about anything. Colour, texture, shapes a mood, light. It can be abstract or clearly defined.
In my work, I want to create images that leave the viewer feeling like they are a part of the image. I want the viewer to get caught up in the image because it evokes an emotion in them. I try to incorporate an element of story into every boudoir session and sometimes I try to tell a story in just one image.
What gives the story context is the scene. Where you are, and the elements around you. I like to keep my sets minimal but because we are in my home studio we benefit from and take advantage of the home environment. This is intentional for me because I like a voyeuristic feel to my images.
If you want to tell a good story it’s in the details. I love to photograph detail shots. Close ups of the fingers pressing into the skin or gently touching the lips, or caressing a collar bone a just a few examples of detail shots that enrich a boudoir story.
